That’s shocking—but the good news is that we can do something about it.
The conflict in the Congo is being fueled and financed by the world’s appetite for minerals.
Resources that are mined illegally end up in products we all use—from cellphones to tin cans to jet engines. The proceeds fund warring factions that use violence, including sexual violence, to advance their political goals.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
If we can stop using conflict minerals in products here, we can stop the war there.
